Capital.com Overview
Launched in 2016 and headquartered in Cyprus, Capital.com has quickly grown into a respected name in the online trading industry. The broker gives traders access to over 3,000 financial instruments, including one of the largest selections of cryptocurrency CFDs with more than 170 crypto pairs (note: crypto CFDs are not available to retail clients in the U.K.).
Capital.com delivers a powerful trading experience through its proprietary web platform, MetaTrader 4 (MT4), and TradingView integration. The platform comes equipped with 150+ advanced charting tools, ultra-fast execution speeds averaging 25 milliseconds, and two mobile apps—one designed for live trading and another dedicated to education.
When it comes to fees and pricing, Capital.com sits in the mid-range compared to global competitors. While spreads and commissions are generally competitive, the broker does not currently provide copy trading or free VPS hosting, which may be a drawback for traders who rely heavily on automated strategies or social trading.
A major strength of Capital.com is its commitment to education and research. The broker offers layered, university-style learning content alongside in-depth market analysis, making it particularly appealing for beginners who want to build strong foundations as well as experienced traders looking for fresh insights.
Although Capital.com has fewer regulatory licenses than some of the largest multi-jurisdiction brokers, it remains fully regulated in multiple key regions, offering traders a secure and transparent environment.
Bottom line: With a broad range of markets, fast execution, advanced trading tools, and high-quality educational resources, Capital.com is a well-rounded broker that suits both new and experienced traders seeking a balanced mix of technology, learning, and market access.

Beginner – Perfect Match
Capital.com is ideal for casual traders thanks to its low minimum deposit of just $20 (via card), user-friendly platforms (Capital.com Web Trader, MetaTrader 4, and TradingView), and a wide library of educational and market research resources. Beginners and part-time traders can easily get started with minimal barriers.
News Trading – Acceptable Choice
Capital.com produces strong in-house research and market commentary that is easy to digest, even for newer traders. However, it lacks popular third-party tools like Autochartist or Trading Central. While not a dealbreaker, adding these integrations could significantly boost its news-trading appeal.
Scalping – Acceptable Choice
Thanks to rapid execution, one-click trading, and a depth-of-market tool, Capital.com works well for scalpers. The platform also offers guaranteed stop-loss functionality. However, the shortest available timeframe is one minute, which may limit those who prefer ultra-low timeframes.
Investing – Not Recommended
Capital.com is not designed for long-term investing. It doesn’t offer access to real stocks or portfolio-building tools, which limits its appeal to investors seeking traditional buy-and-hold strategies.
Automated Trading – Perfect Match
Capital.com supports full automation on MetaTrader 4 with Expert Advisors (EAs) and includes a strategy tester for backtesting. Although it does not provide free VPS hosting, its lightning-fast execution speeds of around 25 milliseconds help reduce slippage. For advanced algo traders, FIX API connectivity is available, ensuring direct market access and high-level customization.
Swing Trading – Acceptable Choice
Capital.com charges overnight fees in line with industry averages, making it a fair option for swing trading. The broker also provides access to multiple futures markets, giving traders additional instruments to hold positions beyond the intraday window.
Day Trading – Perfect Match
With ultra-tight spreads on popular instruments such as EUR/USD, US30, AAPL, and TSLA, Capital.com stands out as a strong day trading broker. The proprietary WebTrader offers advanced charting, integrated research, and seamless execution. Day traders also benefit from guaranteed stop-loss orders for added security, plus access to a comprehensive education hub with detailed articles and training videos.
Social and Copy Trading – Acceptable Choice
Capital.com does not provide its own copy-trading platform. Still, the integration with TradingView gives users access to the world’s largest social trading network, where traders can view strategies, share insights, and analyze community-driven trade ideas.

Capital.com Safety
Safety Intro
Capital.com is widely regarded as a safe and legitimate broker, operating under strict oversight from multiple top-tier financial regulators, including the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). While the broker is not listed on a stock exchange and does not hold a banking license, it has established a strong reputation for client protection and transparency.
Through five subsidiaries registered in different jurisdictions, Capital.com ensures compliance with local regulations across its global operations. Every entity within the group provides negative balance protection, meaning clients cannot lose more than their deposited funds, and enforces segregation of client money to keep client assets separate from the company’s own. This adds an extra layer of security for traders, reinforcing Capital.com’s commitment to safeguarding client interests.
In addition, Capital.com adheres to a ‘best execution’ policy, striving to deliver the most favorable trading conditions possible across its platforms. These measures highlight the broker’s dedication to fairness, accountability, and a secure trading environment.
Pros:
- Negative balance protection
- Majority of clients belong to a top-tier financial authority
Cons:
- Not listed on stock exchange
- Does not hold a banking license
Capital.com Regulation
When evaluating the safety of a broker, regulation is one of the most important factors to consider. Capital.com operates under a strong multi-jurisdictional framework, holding licenses from respected financial authorities around the world. These licenses are often ranked on a three-tier scale, with Tier-1 regulators offering the highest level of investor protection, followed by Tier-2 and Tier-3 authorities.
Here’s a breakdown of Capital.com’s regulatory structure:
-
Capital Com Online Investments Ltd – Licensed by the Securities Commission of the Bahamas (SCB) under license number SIA-F245. The SCB is categorized as a Tier-3 regulator, which provides more flexibility but lower levels of investor protection than higher-tier authorities.
-
Capital Com (UK) Limited – Authorized by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the United Kingdom under license number 793714. The FCA is regarded globally as a Tier-1 regulator, known for its rigorous oversight and strong client protection rules.
-
Capital Com MENA Securities Trading L.L.C – Authorized by the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) in the United Arab Emirates under license number 20200000176. The SCA is considered a Tier-2 regulator, offering a reliable but slightly less stringent framework compared to Tier-1 bodies.
-
Capital Com SV Investments Limited – Regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) under license number 319/17. CySEC is recognized as a Tier-1 regulator, ensuring strict compliance and high investor safeguards.
-
Capital Com Australia Pty Ltd – Licensed by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) under license number 513393. ASIC is also rated as a Tier-1 regulator, providing robust financial standards and consumer protections.
This multi-license structure highlights Capital.com’s commitment to operating transparently and meeting diverse international compliance standards. By holding multiple Tier-1 licenses, the broker provides strong safeguards such as negative balance protection and the segregation of client funds, giving traders additional confidence in the safety of their accounts.

Understanding the Regulatory Protections of Your Account
When selecting a broker, understanding the safety measures provided by each entity is crucial. Brokers often operate across multiple jurisdictions, and regulatory standards can differ significantly. Choosing an entity with strong protections ensures your funds are secure and trading risk is managed effectively.
Here are the primary safeguards to consider with Capital.com:
-
Negative Balance Protection: This feature ensures that trading losses cannot exceed the balance in your account. All entities of Capital.com guarantee negative balance protection, giving retail traders peace of mind that their losses are capped at their deposited funds.
-
Segregation of Client Funds: Capital.com keeps client funds in segregated accounts, separate from the broker’s corporate capital. This separation reduces the risk of mismanagement and ensures that client assets are protected in the unlikely event of company insolvency.
-
Compensation Schemes: Certain regulatory frameworks provide additional financial protection. Clients of Capital Com SV Investments Ltd are covered for up to EUR 20,000 under the Investor Compensation Fund (ICF), while clients of Capital Com (UK) Limited benefit from coverage of up to GBP 85,000 via the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).
-
Maximum Leverage Limits: Retail leverage caps help manage market exposure. Capital Com SV Investments Limited offers a maximum leverage of 1:30, balancing potential profit opportunities with risk control.
By prioritizing brokers with robust regulatory protections like Capital.com, traders can focus on their strategies with confidence, knowing their funds are secure and their trading environment meets high international standards.
How you are protected
The level of investor protection you receive with Capital.com depends on the specific legal entity under which your trading account is held. Each entity operates under the supervision of its respective regulator, which determines both the scope of protections and any financial limits in place.
Being aware of these distinctions ensures that you know how your funds are safeguarded and what compensation mechanisms apply should any unforeseen issues arise. By choosing a well-regulated entity of Capital.com, traders can benefit from clear protections and industry-standard safety measures, helping to manage risk while trading confidently.

Stability and Transparency
When assessing broker trustworthiness, key factors include longevity, company size, and clarity of information. Capital.com, established in 2016, demonstrates strong stability and a growing presence in the trading industry. According to the company’s LinkedIn profile, it employs nearly 800 professionals, highlighting a robust operational structure capable of supporting a broad client base.
Transparency is another area where Capital.com excels. All critical legal documents – including client agreements, risk disclosures, and best execution policies – are readily accessible and written in clear, easy-to-understand language. This ensures that traders can fully grasp their rights, responsibilities, and the terms of trading.
In addition, Capital.com provides a live spread feed directly on its website, allowing visitors and traders to quickly evaluate the competitiveness of trading fees and overnight charges. This level of openness reinforces the broker’s commitment to a trustworthy and reliable trading environment.
Capital.com safe?
Capital.com is widely regarded as a trustworthy broker, offering robust safety measures that protect traders and their funds. Its reliability stems from several key factors:
-
Tier-1 Regulatory Authorization: Capital.com is authorized by highly respected regulators, including the Australian Securities & Investment Commission (ASIC), the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK, and regulated across the European Union through MiFID passporting. This top-tier oversight ensures the broker adheres to strict financial and operational standards.
-
Segregated Client Funds: All client deposits are kept in segregated accounts, separate from the broker’s corporate funds, which safeguards traders against potential financial mishaps.
-
Negative Balance Protection: Traders are shielded from losses exceeding their account balance, ensuring that risk is contained to the amount invested.
-
Best Execution Policy: Capital.com operates on a ‘best execution’ basis, meaning trades are executed at the most favorable prices available, further enhancing trading security.
While Capital.com is not publicly listed and does not operate a banking entity, its comprehensive regulatory framework and strong operational safeguards make it a highly trusted option for CFD and forex traders.

Capital.com Swap Fees

-
Swap Long: This is the fee charged or credited when you maintain a buy position overnight.

The swap rates are calculated based on a full base currency contract of 100,000 units, providing transparency for traders managing overnight positions. For example, values collected in 2025 reflect the applicable charges for one standard contract.
Swap fees are an essential consideration for day, swing, and long-term traders, as they can impact overall profitability.

IC Markets’ MetaTrader 4 (MT4) platform provides a comprehensive suite of analytical tools and charting options designed to support both technical and strategic trading decisions.
- Technical Indicators: Traders have access to 38 built-in technical indicators, encompassing trend, volume, and oscillator-based tools. These indicators assist in analysing price action, gauging market sentiment, and forecasting potential market movements.
- Drawing Tools: MT4 offers 24 drawing tools, including Fibonacci retracements and Elliott waves, which help identify price patterns, key support and resistance levels, and potential breakout points. These tools are ideal for detailed technical analysis but can make charts appear busy when multiple indicators are applied simultaneously.
- Timeframes & Chart Types: With 21 different timeframes, MT4 supports multi-timeframe analysis, providing a detailed view of market trends. Traders can view price action through line charts, bar charts, or candlesticks, giving multiple perspectives to identify trading opportunities.

IC Markets’ MetaTrader 4 (MT4) platform offers versatile order execution options, catering to both manual and high-speed trading strategies. Traders can choose between market orders, pending orders, and one-click trading, allowing precise entries at the current market price.
- Market Orders: Market orders enable immediate execution at the best available price. While they guarantee the requested trade volume, the final entry price may vary slightly from the initial quote due to market fluctuations.
- Limit Orders: Limit orders ensure trades are executed at a specified price, providing full control over entry points. However, the order will only be filled if the market reaches the designated price level.
- Stop Orders: Stop orders act as risk management tools, limiting potential losses on open positions. A stop-loss is placed at a fixed level above or below the current market price. If triggered, it converts into a market order and executes at the best possible price to mitigate losses.
By combining these order types with MT4’s one-click trading, IC Markets gives traders the flexibility to execute strategies quickly and efficiently, whether for scalping, day trading, or automated algorithmic approaches.

Look and Feel
IC Markets delivers a polished and intuitive MT4 mobile trading platform that balances aesthetics with functionality. The clean design and thoughtfully organised features make navigation effortless, allowing traders to access charts, place orders, and manage positions quickly. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced trader, the platform’s user-friendly interface ensures a seamless mobile trading experience, empowering you to stay connected to the markets anytime, anywhere.
Login and security
IC Markets’ MT4 mobile platform currently offers a single-step login, providing basic access to your trading account. While straightforward, enhancing security with two-factor authentication would significantly strengthen account protection. Additionally, the platform does not yet support biometric login such as fingerprint or facial recognition, which could offer a faster and more convenient way for traders to securely access their accounts. Implementing these features would elevate both security and usability for mobile users.
Search functions
IC Markets mobile MT4 app offers an efficient search system designed to help traders quickly locate the instruments or tools they need. Users can type the name of a specific product directly into the search bar or browse through organised category folders to explore available options. This dual approach ensures both speed and flexibility, making it easier for traders to navigate the platform and access relevant trading assets without hassle.
Placing orders
IC Markets’ mobile MT4 trading platform provides flexible order placement options to accommodate a variety of trading strategies. Traders can choose from market orders for immediate execution, limit orders to enter at a specific price, and stop-loss orders to manage risk and protect positions.
Additionally, the platform supports order time settings to suit different trading approaches:

This combination of order types and time controls ensures precise execution, whether you’re trading on the go or managing positions from your mobile device.
Alerts and notifications
IC Markets’ mobile MT4 trading app currently does not support alerts or notifications, a feature that remains exclusive to the desktop platform. Alerts are essential for monitoring market movements and executing timely trades, so integrating this functionality into the mobile app would significantly enhance the trading experience.
Traders using the mobile platform can still manage positions and monitor market activity in real time, but for instant trade alerts and notifications, the desktop version remains the go-to solution.

MetaTrader 4: Key Takeaways
MT4 Desktop Platform
MetaTrader 4’s desktop version offers fast and reliable order execution, appealing to traders who prioritize efficiency. However, its older, more rugged interface can feel outdated compared to modern, sleek trading platforms. Charting capabilities are functional but relatively rigid, making it less ideal for traders who rely on flexible, scalable charts for multi-timeframe analysis and complex technical studies.
MT4 Mobile App
The MetaTrader 4 mobile app is designed for efficient trade management on the go, making it an indispensable tool during periods of market volatility. Traders can quickly adjust positions, execute orders, and manage risk directly from their smartphone or tablet. While its speed and convenience are strong points, the app is less suitable for detailed technical analysis and in-depth charting, which may require a desktop platform for comprehensive evaluation.
In summary, MT4 provides a balanced solution for both mobile and desktop trading, combining speed and reliability with the convenience of on-the-go access, while more advanced charting and analytical tasks may be better suited to desktop use.

CFDs offer high flexibility and fast market access, allowing traders to enter and exit positions almost instantly, which is ideal for capturing small price fluctuations. This speed and adaptability make CFDs attractive for active traders. However, it is important to note that CFDs are leveraged instruments, meaning they can magnify both profits and losses. Capital.com Leverage
What is CFD Leverage?
CFD leverage allows traders to increase their market exposure without committing the full value of a position. When trading Contracts for Difference (CFDs), leverage lets you open larger trades by borrowing funds from the broker. This means that with a smaller initial deposit, you can control a position that is significantly larger than your capital.
Leverage amplifies both potential profits and potential losses. Successful trades can generate higher returns than trading without leverage, but losing positions are equally magnified, making risk management crucial. By understanding and using leverage wisely, traders can optimize their strategies while keeping exposure under control.
Capital.com Leverage By Asset Class
Capital.com offers varying levels of maximum retail leverage depending on the asset class, allowing traders to tailor their exposure to different markets. The table below outlines the leverage caps provided by Capital Com SV Investments Limited for popular instruments:

| ETFs | 1:5 |
| Commodities | 1:10 |
| Currency Pairs | 1:30 |
| Shares CFDs | 1:5 |
| Gold | 1:20 |
| Cryptocurrencies | 1:2 |
